Building Strong Families

It is time to talk

Talking to children about health and wellness can be hard. It is important to promote open communication in kids and caregivers in order to be a strong family. Below are ways you can better communicate with your son/daughter on a variety of tough topics.

Become an Askable Parent

To be askable means that young people see you as approachable and open to questions. Being askable on topics such as sexuality, hygiene or health is something that most parents and caregivers want but that many find very difficult. Research also shows that, when teens are able to talk with a parent or other significant adult, they are less likely to engage in risky behavior than are teens who haven’t talked with a trusted adult. ¿Es Usted un Padre de Familia al que se le Pueden Hacer Preguntas?
