Our Community Navigation Team
The function of the Community Navigation team is to help our immigrant and refugee clients with whatever daily tasks they may encounter. To this end, our Navigators have helped clients with thousands of tasks—everything from translating mail, setting up necessary appointments, to finding legal representation. No one works as hard as our Navigators: along with our teaching team, they are the backbone of our organization.
Shukur Manaf
Rohingya, Malay, Hindi, & English Community Navigator
Shukur’s family was originally from Myanmar but he was born in Malaysia. As a multi-language navigator, he enjoys reading and writing. He is currently working full-time, while self-studying and pursuing the American GED.
On his time off he enjoys playing soccer, lifting weights and boxing. His career goal is to be a social worker. IRCNoCo is especially fortunate to have someone from the Rohingya community to serve the large Rohingya population in Evans and Greeley.
Georgia Coats
Spanish, Arabic, & English Community Navigator
Georgia has been connecting across cultures her whole life. She grew up in a Greek immigrant family and also resided in a Middle Eastern community for 17 years. Georgia values language learning as a pathway to empowerment. As community navigator her goal is to help remove barriers and advocate for others so they can thrive together in a multicultural environment.
A student at heart, Georgia is geeked about learning new vocabulary from her Spanish-speaking clients. She earned her MA in Language Learning at Wayne State University (2017) and her BA in Spanish for Bilingual Ed. & ESL at the University of Northern Colorado (1996). She’s also eager to play with words in English, hike in the Rockies, and Greek dance with her family.
