Tips for finding employment

Resume

A resume is a document used and created by a person to present their background, skills, and accomplishments. The jobs above do not require applicants to submit a resume, but if you have work experience, it might be helpful to show that to a potential employer. Here are some tips if you desire to create a resume.

  • Make sure your resume has your current contact information. (Phone number, email, address, etc.)

  • Make your resume easier to read. Type your resume on a computer, use a simple font (Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana, or Helvetica) and size 12.

  • List any work experience you have in order from your most current job to your first job.

  • Any achievements or education you have would also be helpful to provide.

  • Adding an explanation for possible gaps in employment history allows the employer to learn more about you and understand your past. (having a child, moving locations, etc.)

  • It might be helpful to use an online resume template that will help you format your resume in a professional and convenient way. Here are some links to free, online tools that will help you do so. www.resume-now.com, www.myperfectresume.com, and www.resumegenius.com
